About Pilgrim Therapy

A practice rooted in real attention.

Pilgrim Therapy is a Toronto psychotherapy practice offering in-person, virtual, and walking sessions. Our therapists are registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, trained in integrative methods, and grounded in the conviction that the right kind of attention changes things.

The practice was founded on the Ignatian tradition of careful, discerning interior work, by therapist Brook Stacey, RP, after years of formation as a Jesuit and his own pilgrimage across Spain on the Camino de Santiago. That metaphor stayed: therapy as a kind of walking, a slow honest movement toward what matters.

Our therapists hold space for clients across life stages and traditions, including those who want faith woven into the work and those who don't. The thread that runs through all of it is the same: meeting you where you are.

Who We Work With

If any of this sounds like you,
you're in the right place.

Navigating a transition

Career pivots, relationship shifts, the quiet question of "what now." When the ground beneath you is moving and you're trying to find footing.

Grief, loss, or a heavy chapter

The death of someone you loved. The end of a marriage. A diagnosis. The grief that keeps surprising you months or years later.

Anxiety, depression, burnout

High-functioning on the outside, unraveling on the inside. Overwhelm, numbness, the sense that you're running on fumes and can't remember why.

Wrestling with meaning or faith

Exploration, doubt, rebuilding. The bigger questions about purpose, vocation, God, what you actually believe. Welcome whether you're practising, questioning, or somewhere in between.

Relationship and attachment

Old patterns that keep showing up in new relationships. Difficulty trusting, loving, being known. The work of becoming someone you'd want to be close to.

Habits, addictions, and patterns

Behaviours that keep pulling you back. Substance use, compulsion, numbing, avoidance, and the deeper reasons they hold on.

How We Can Help

Therapy Services

Different ways in. The same kind of attention.

Something Different

Therapy doesn't have to happen in a chair.

Walking side-by-side along the Woodbine Boardwalk, the conversation flows differently. The rhythm of walking supports the rhythm of thinking. Nature does some of the healing work for you.

The Camino taught me that the way forward is almost never a straight line. Healing works the same way. You don't have to know the whole path. You just have to take the next step.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is a conversation, not an interrogation. You'll share what brings you in, and together you and your therapist will explore what you're hoping for. They'll ask questions to understand your story and the shape of things. By the end, you'll have a sense of whether this feels like the right fit. There's no pressure to commit to ongoing work from that one meeting.

How long does therapy last, and how often will we meet?

Most clients start weekly for the first few months. That cadence tends to build momentum and help the work go deeper. From there, many move to biweekly or monthly check-ins. Some people come for a focused piece of work that wraps up in a handful of sessions. Others stay longer, working through deeper patterns or walking through a long transition. We decide together when the work feels complete.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, with rare exceptions required by law: a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, or suspected abuse of a child. These limits are explained fully in our first session so there are no surprises.

Do you offer online, in-person, or walking sessions?

All three. In-person sessions are held at the Beaches office near Queen Street East and Victoria Park. Virtual sessions run on secure video and are available anywhere in Ontario. Walking therapy takes place along the Woodbine Boardwalk in the Beaches, or along Philosopher's Walk near the UofT St. George campus downtown, depending on which therapist you work with.

How much does therapy cost, and do you accept insurance?

Fees vary by service and session length. Please reach out for current rates. Most extended health benefit plans in Ontario cover psychotherapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO). A receipt is issued for every session. Whether your plan reimburses depends on your specific coverage, so a quick check with your provider is worthwhile.

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?

That feeling is one of the most common reasons people put off reaching out. Starting therapy asks something of you before you know what it will offer. The first conversation is low-stakes by design. It's a chance to ask questions, get a feel for the fit, and decide whether to go further. Being nervous isn't a reason to wait. It's usually a sign that something in you already knows the work is worth doing.
